Join the Dāna Circle
Becoming a monthly donor is one of the most meaningful ways to support Dharma Voices for Animals.
In Buddhist practice, dāna, or the act of giving, is a foundation for compassion in action. The Dāna Circle is a community of people who are committed to showing up for animals, consistently and intentionally.
When you support Dharma Voices for Animals, you are putting compassion into action. You are standing up for those who need our help, expressing solidarity with your fellow sentient beings, our partners in the great chain of life.
— Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi
Why Monthly Giving Matters
Recurring support is what allows us to move from reacting to problems to proactively making change. With a reliable base of monthly donors, we’re able to think long-term, deepen our relationships, and invest in the kind of work that leads to lasting cultural shifts for the wellbeing of animals.
Your support helps us:
Plan with intention
Instead of operating project-to-project, we can map out where our efforts will have the greatest impact and commit to that work fully.Sustain momentum
Advocacy, education, and community engagement take time. Monthly giving ensures that progress doesn’t stall and that we can show up consistently for animals.Expand compassionate outreach
From virtual talks to in-person events, partnerships, and resources, your support helps bring messages of non-harm and compassion into Buddhist communities around the world.Respond when it matters most
Having dependable funding means we can act quickly when opportunities arise, whether that’s collaborating with a new partner, supporting emerging advocates, or addressing urgent issues affecting animals.
Just like the majority of people, Buddhists are simply unaware of the cruelties of the animal industry…
Part of the DVA's mission is to educate Buddhists about these matters. I think this mission is incredibly important—not only for the benefit of non-human animals, but also for the benefit of Buddhism itself…
I'm afraid the DVA's mission will be a hard one, however. Globally, the per-capita consumption of animal products is only rising every year. It is driven by industrialization, misinformation, but also—let's be frank—the near-unstoppable force of human greed.
Dharma Voices for Animals therefore needs all the support it can get. If animals had a voice, they would shout out in its favour. If they had a bank account, they would empty it out!

Nature in all its diversity is Carl Brenders’s one and only inspiration. No subject is too humble or noble for him. He will paint with equal love and focus a cluster of ladybugs, a clutch of ducklings, a fox, a pride of lions or a small patch of lichen growing on a branch. Capturing nature’s wildlife in all its beauty and drama imparts Carl’s work with considerable and captivating variety.
