Desired qualifications: 

  • Significant familiarity with Buddhist communities

  • Experience managing small to medium teams of people

  • Canva graphic design experience

Responsibilities will include:

  • Execute the mission and initial strategic objectives of the US Centers Project as in coordination with Dharma Voices for Animals leadership, propose and execute on strategic modifications, and report on quarterly outcome measures.

  • Apply creativity and strategic thinking to expand the Project’s reach, visibility, and long-term impact beyond its current scope.

  • Serve as the primary representative and spokesperson for the US Project, participating in podcasts, interviews, conferences, donor meetings, and other public engagements. Create presentations using Canva. 

  • Support US donor cultivation in collaboration with the philanthropic team.

  • Lead, supervise, and support US Regional Coordinators, ensuring clarity of expectations, strong performance, and timely fulfillment of responsibilities.

  • Develop and sustain relationships with key stakeholders within Buddhist and animal advocacy communities, including monastics, practitioners, volunteers, scholars, and nonprofit leaders.

  • Conduct outreach to Buddhist Centers across the United States; present, promote, and enroll Centers in the Sustainable Sangha Collective.

  • Oversee communications related to the US Project in coordination with the Communications Director, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and brand standards.

  • Collaborate with DVA’s partner organizations, including Balanced and other mission-aligned groups, to provide educational resources and strategic support to participating Centers.

  • Foster community engagement and thoughtful dialogue within DVA’s communication platforms, including the organizational WhatsApp group, encouraging exploration of Buddhist teachings as they relate to compassion and food ethics.

  • Participate in weekly meetings with the Executive Director to provide project updates, discuss challenges, and align on strategic priorities.

  • Attend bi-monthly DVA Rally calls with the North American team and contribute to cross-regional collaboration.

  • Take full ownership of the US Centers Project, operating with a high degree of independence while maintaining accountability and alignment with organizational leadership.
